The bonus is a combination of a guaranteed additional substat as well as a random stat that will change in value from upgrade to upgrade.

The rerolled item will also have different requirements for strength and dexterity. It is important to know that the item rerolled won't be able to keep its original strength or have any of its wasted resources.
Rerolling some upgraded items is only possible if the item that was upgraded was Epic, Rare or Unique. Exceptional items can also be rerolled, however the original stats are replaced with an uncapped bonus. This means that rerolling a Rare item will result in a Normal version of the same type, while rerolling an Epic item will result in an elite version of the same kind.
A newly upgraded item could have extra modifiers, which could further boost its stats and improve its performance. These additional modifiers do not come with the upgrade cost. The amount of bonus awarded differs for each upgrade, and it's usually higher for items that are rarer. The Great Vault can be searched by players to determine whether an item is upgradeable. This process is based on Growthstones and Sollant but there's a chance of obtaining a fully upgraded item after just one cycle. The more levels an item is upgraded to, the higher its boosted stats value and the more items it can upgrade to.
Upgrade components can be slotted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is being used. Some upgrade components also come with cosmetic effects. Players can purchase upgrade components by crafting, purchasing from vendors or on the Trading Post, looting, or receiving as a reward. Rerolled items won't retain their status or the amount of resources used to upgrade them.
The maximum level of upgrade for an item is determined by its tier and the quality. Rare and Epic items can be upgraded to levels up to nine, while common items can only be upgraded up to level six. The item upgrades are added to its base statistics. This means that they won't increase further after a certain level.
